Ready for liftoff, and a future in Australia’s fired-up space program

Australia is finally investing in a national space agency. It’s a dream come true for star gazers, among them a band of Melbourne engineers who have been busy preparing their own satellite for blastoff. Nicole de Souza reports.

After decades sleeping through the space race, the Australian Government has now committed $41 million to launching our first national space agency. It’s an exciting moment for a group of students and engineers who make up the Melbourne Space Program, a little project with huge ambitions – to be the first Australian students in space since 1970.
