The Citizen reporter awarded science journalism grant

The Citizen reporter awarded science journalism grant
Grant awarded to: Petra Stock

For the second year running, The Citizen has secured a grant for early-career science reporting.

The Citizen’s cadet reporter Petra Stock will use the grant, awarded by the Science Journalism Association of Australia, for a story on wind farms and conservation.

Stock was one of five journalists in Australia to receive a grant for science reporting from the association in 2022.

Last year’s cadet, Jordyn Beazley was awarded the grant in 2021. Beazley worked under the mentorship of the ABC’s Natasha Mitchell, host of the ABC RN’s Science Friction to produce her story on soundscape ecology called Two guys. Two kayaks. And 2500km to make the Murray River sing.
