Leadership Crisis: Scott Morrison is PM. Could be worse, students say*

As word gets out that Prime Ministerial pretender Peter Dutton has done his dash, and that ‘ScoMo’ has seized the prize, reporter Dilpreet Kaur takes the pulse on the University of Melbourne campus. (*And yes, they would say that, wouldn’t they.)

On a Friday afternoon on campus, students were underwhelmed by news that Scott Morrison was their new Prime Minister. The general mood was of was relief that Peter Dutton’s grab at the top job had failed, and exasperation at the political circus that has consumed Canberra this week. Several students expressed hope that Labor would capitalise on the Liberal Party’s horrors.
