Kennedy will produce a story about the NBN rollout in Alice Springs, whilst Banister will visit the Torres Strait to report on how the climate crisis is affecting the region.

Banister was also a 2018 recipient. You can read his reporting from the first round of funding here.

The fellowships honour Michael Gordon, the legendary Age journalist who passed away in February 2018. Gordon was a mentor to Citizen editor Jo Chandler during her time at The Age.

The Michael Gordon Fellowships are generously supported by the Copyright Agency’s Cultural Fund, the ABC, Nine, the National Press Club, Grant Rule and Sophie Oh and the Ray & Margaret Wilson Foundation.
