Celebrating CAJ’s 2025 national student journalism awards honours

Students from the Centre for Advancing Journalism have been recognised among the country’s best emerging reporters, with multiple University of Melbourne Master of Journalism and Master of International Journalism students taking home honours at the annual national student journalism.

The Ossie awards, named for the late journalist and war correspondent Osmar S. White, celebrate the strongest student journalism from universities across Australia and the region. They are judged and presented annually by the Journalism Education and Research Association of Australia (JERAA).

The Ossies highlight excellence across student journalism programs across Australia. The winner of the Student Journalist of the Year award went to RMIT student Charlotte Wilkes. The full list of winners and judges’ comments can be viewed here.
