Centre for Advancing Journalism alum Wing Kuang has been named one of 15 recipients of the 2026 Walkley Grants for Freelance Journalism.
The grants, from a funding pool of $120,000, provide up to $10,000 for individuals or small teams of freelancers to report on projects with a focus on public interest.
According to the Walkley Foundation, this year’s awarded projects “will examine subjects including democratic accountability, environmental change, regional and community resilience, institutional accountability, technology and media integrity, health and reproductive ethics, labour and social systems, resource extraction, and the use of public money and power”.
“The Walkley Foundation congratulates all recipients and looks forward to seeing these projects develop over the coming year,” the Foundation stated.
The initiative is supported by the Johnstone Gumption Fund, a sub-fund of Australian Communities Foundation, The Walkley Public Fund for Journalism and the Meta Australian News Fund.
