‘Perfection’: Everyone has the best dog. None of them are wrong

We love our dogs. For serious breeders, the perfect dog is a flawless specimen of type – coat, markings, character all by the book. For others, accepting pooch’s imperfections makes for the perfect human-canine relationship. In the third part of our audio series Nicole de Souza explores dog breeding, legal and illegal, and its impacts on our canine companions.

Audio report by Nicole de Souza

Brenda Harper is a Dalmatian dog breeder – she’s been in the business for 38 years. Meggy is a cocker spaniel who was rescued from a puppy farm. This report shares tales from the dog world to explore the highs and lows of the industry that feeds our yearnings for canine companionship.

This special Citizen audio series is co-published with All The Best radio. Check out the podcast for the full series from this Wednesday, 27 July.
