The team finished 8th of 16 in the 200m race, and 11th of 16 in the 500m race, at the event held in Wenzhou, China. With professional teams in the field, the MUDBC says it’s happy with the results, which came after months of hard work.

Land ahoy as student dragon boaters head to China
Melbourne University Dragon Boat Club competed over the weekend in a university invitational event in China, the sport’s traditional home. Photojournalist Cici Liu was on hand to capture the team’s gruelling preparation, and to chat to the boaters about why they signed up.
